Ah 5 years

My OS Drive finally bit the dust in my desktop, good ol’ 160GB ATA133 lasted 5 years (pretty impressive) of near constant usage. I’m normally not a Maxtor (now Seagate) fan however 5 years is pretty good. I’ve replaced it with a 500GB Seagate Barracuda SATAII drive. Did a rsync of /home and I’m back online within a hour of a catastrophic drive failure with no data lost and no settings lost. Ahhh behold the power of linux 🙂

However something did go seriously wrong in the midst of the old drive removal;

Normally I hate living in Tucson due to well.. people.  But on days like today (61F Very sunny and a slight breeze) there is nothing better than just relaxing out side, or taking a motorcycle ride and just enjoying the sun.  I suggested that we move the NOC outside during the spring time to enjoy the outdoors… sadly I got a laugh for the suggestion.

I am anxiously awaiting Millencolin’s new album.. shit if their new record is as good as their previous we’ll be 3 for 3 for new CDs that kick ass by some of my favorite bands (Already released Streetlight Manifesto & upcoming Flogging Molly).

Site moved to new IP space as I decided to finally actually route myself something bigger than a /30, so it may take a bit for this to come back up for everyone depending on your DNS servers.

“New” Cisco 3600 router replaces the horrible lagging 2600 🙂

Ugh, nothin’ like sorting through 7 years of cables

So we’re slowly getting shared colocation cabinets off independent UPSs and onto the big MGE and doing so is requiring a lot of sorting and cleaning of the cabinets, we’re removing all power cords and replacing them with custom length cables to reduce clutter along with custom length ethernet cables and such. I was in the facility from 12:30am -> 4am doing nothing but that with the whole cabinet powered down, talk about a lot of fun… sheesh.

– Fuck you Hillary Clinton, don’t go on TV and cry just because someone said you weren’t personable.

– Fuck you Democratic party for not understanding that the terrorists in the middle east don’t care who we are or what we want, it is in their religion, it is in their blood to hate the west regardless of who that may be.. this isn’t something that can be changed in any short (decades) period of time.  It’s been that way for centuries.. can you finally catch up?

– Fuck you WGA of America for not allowing new TV shows when my Wife is in another country causing me some boring ass nights.

– Fuck you parents of the under belly of today’s youth, learn to raise your kids correctly and not let them either a) become pregnant at 13 and become trailer trash b) lazy with their hands held out for food stamps and welfare c) contribute to the pussification of todays men d) become britney spears
