Anthropic commits 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund

Anthropic · October 18, 2026

Anthropic is setting aside equity for the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a wholly owned LLC. The initial commitment is 5% of shares, subject to stockholder approval, and the board may add 2% for each 50% rise in company value above a set baseline. Together with the co-founders’ pledge of 80% of their equity and the employee equity-match program, about 20% of shares would go to the public good. None of the Fund’s equity may be used for lobbying or political giving.

“We are instead directing that equity to the public benefit.” — Anthropic

DeepMind uses Google Antigravity to find a candidate antimicrobial peptide

Google DeepMind · October 15, 2026

Google DeepMind describes using Google Antigravity as an AI-assisted science workbench. The agent handled database queries, novelty checks, 3D structure comparisons, genomic context analysis, and literature review while a researcher guided the search. The resulting candidate peptide, from Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae, is predicted to act against respiratory pathogens and is now in wet-lab validation.

“New antibiotics are urgently needed to help with rising levels of antimicrobial resistance.” — Pengfei Tian, Maxwell L. Bileschi, Zoi Tsangalidou, Sukhdeep Singh, and Lucy J. Colwell, Google DeepMind
