{"id":434,"date":"2022-07-14T16:04:24","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T22:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scottharvanek.com\/?p=434"},"modified":"2022-07-14T16:04:24","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T22:04:24","slug":"ssd-controller-performance-and-silicon-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottharvanek.com\/?p=434","title":{"rendered":"SSD Controller performance and Silicon Power"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recently we discovered that a slew of <a href=\"http:\/\/siliconpower.com\">Silicon Power <\/a>NVMe drives we had, all with the same P\/N, being the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silicon-power.com\/web\/product-P34A80\">P34A80<\/a> drives had various arrangements of controllers and NAND.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p>So far we have discovered at least three controllers on this same P\/N Model.  Those being:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.siliconmotion.com\/download\/u\/a\/SM2262EN_PB_EN_201910.pdf\">Silicon Motion 2262<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.siliconmotion.com\/download\/3bo\/a\/SM2263ENXT_PB_EN_201910.pdf\">Silicon Motion 2263XT<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phison.com\/en\/solutions\/embedded\/fips-certified\/1927-ps5012-e12\">Phison E12<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We found that the Silicon Motion 2262 was an adequately performing controller but the other two are terribly under powered.   The SM 2263XT is only a 4 channel controller whereas the other two are 8 channel.
