Apple is the new Microsoft

So, I have to fly across the country back to cleveland and I’m planning on using my wife’s iFlip video player for ipods to watch movies on the plane.  Sadly I’ve been denied because I have a iPod classic… and you can only use iPod classic video out with a $49 apple “cable”. Which is fucking stupid because that means it’s not portable video at all.  Completely asinine and sounds like Microsoft.

Fuck you Steve Jobs.

Holy two-faced congress batman

Democrats touted their distain for the warrantless wire tapping that the president and FBI were taking part in over the past few years.  However today, this afternoon, the democratically lead Senate passed the Telecom immunity bill.  They quote “Gave into pressure from the white house”.  Isn’t the reason they were elected because they said they would not give into the pressure?  I just don’t know what to think of our government anymore.  We’ve got one party who does whatever they want, and another party who does whatever the first one demands of them…. kinda sad.

*Sigh* why must the ignorant also be morons

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you don’t know something or how to do something it’s okay to say “I don’t know” or “can you please help me”.  Please don’t attempt to *fix* something in the network on your own, because nine times out of ten you’re only going to make the problem worse and make a much longer harder job for someone (me).

So here’s to the people who actually ask for help *raises glass*

Wow EliteXC has some very gay aspects

The stupid intros are unbelievably annoying in EliteXC, The UFC has it right, simple entrance song and that’s it.  EXC has stupid lights and smoke etc.

Very weak.

INTEROP Las Vegas ’08

Oh but Vegas is always a good time, and this was no exception.  Now that I’ve recovered from heavy partying by night and long floor walking by day I think I’ll update as to the happenings that went on.

First I got in on Sunday (with plans to leave Tue morning) only to find that the actual exhibition hall would not even be open until Tuesday @ 10am so needless to say that threw a bit of a monkey wrench in my plans.  Thankfully SWA doesn’t suck like most airlines and graciously (and free of charge) moved my flight to later Tuesday evening so that I could walk the exhibition floor.

Monday was a day where I had been hooked up with a free seminar pass and had chosen to go to the ‘Building a Enterprise Network Architecture’ which turned out to be a bunch of closed source consultants talking Micro$oft products and how awesome AT&T is.  So it wasn’t much help other than spying on what other people are having challenges with (M$ Server 2k8).

The exhibition hall yielded a welcoming surprise, for the first time that I can remember, Cisco was *NOT* the first booth.  Instead it was Foundry Networks!! Believing in open standards and disagreeing with proprietary protocols I was very very excited to see this.  Polycom got it right by bringing women from their Danish office to work their booth.

However the highlight to my visit was the incredibly amusing Micro$oft banners stating that Micro$oft was ‘Interoperability by Design’ *cough* yea… right… I guess if you say it.. it must be true?

Why in the heck

Are the record companies putting out like 15 albums I want this week? I have no time to enjoy them… and what’s worse is there will be nothing but crap for the rest of the year… Can we pace ourselves a bit guys? is this necessary?

*sigh*

Anyways Pennywise has a good album coming out, so does Anti-Flag, No Use for a Name, The Counting Crows, R.E.M. and others…
